Of course, Pharoh didn’t seem too concerned with avoiding plagues, but we SHOULD! Locusts, darkness, frogs, lice, flies, hail, boils on skin,… aluminum.
Aluminum has been referred to as the silent killer and it very well may be the most toxic substance known to mankind. Aluminum is harmful to all life forms and damages all types of tissue in the body. Aluminum is a heavy metal neurotoxin, meaning it has the ability to damage brain function immensely. It is highly linked to Alzheimer’s disease among other things. Aluminum accumulates in the body over a lifetime and is hard for your body to get rid of, thus being one of the reasons you should avoid it in the first place.
The main symptoms of aluminum poisoning are the loss of brain function, forgetfulness, inability to concentrate, and even dementia. It is also known to cause bone softening and bone mass loss as well as kidney and other soft tissue damage. Many who have adapted low aluminum diets have reported a reduction in headaches and significant improvement in memory and ability to concentrate. Parents have reported improvements in children with behavioral problems.
You might not even know you’re ingesting aluminum. The most common sources of aluminum are deodorant, dryer sheets, aluminum pans/ cookware and utensils, aluminum foil, baking powder and the foods that contain it (bakery items, crackers, etc- see below), white salt, white sugar, antacids (Tums, etc), many prescription and over-the-counter medications, many vaccines/ injections, aluminum soda cans, lotions, creams, cosmetics, shampoos, soaps, conditioners, suntan lotions/ sunscreens, lip balm, toothpaste, buffered aspirin, even some vitamins, and more.
If you buy any of the above items, make sure you’re checking the ingredient lists on foods, body products, and drugs to make sure you’re not getting ANY aluminum! Even in body products, aluminum IS getting absorbed into your bloodstream if it’s been applied to your skin. Think about it… our skin is a permeable membrane, that means thank goodness, things can get out (through sweat), but that also means everything we put on our skin can get in!
Some of the names of aluminum on ingredient lists (not all inclusive):
Alum, Aluminate, Silicoaluminate, Silicic acid, Aluminum Sodium Salt, Sodium Aluminosilicate, Aluminosilicic acid, Sodium Salt, Sodium Aluminum Silicate, Sasil, Aluminum Trisilicate, Kaolin, Aluminum Sulfate, Aluminum Fluoride, Aluminum Stearate, Aluminum Hydroxide, Aluminum Sulphate (used in water supply in many cities- check your local water).
Elaborating more on baking powder: Unless you buy non-aluminized baking powder, you can assume there is aluminum in your baking powder. This means, that pretty much everything in your bakery at the store probably contains aluminum as well. Don’t confuse baking powder with baking soda though, they are two different things. The following things generally contain baking powder and unless stated that non-aluminum baking powder was used, they should be avoided.
Foods made with baking powder and/or containing aluminum: self-rising flour, microwave popcorn, salted snacks, crackers, pretzels, hot cocoa mixes, coffee creamers, pickles and relish, flour tortillas, pizza crust, muffins, doughnuts, cookies, pancakes, waffles, cupcakes, cakes, baking mixes, brownies, pastries, corn bread, pie crusts, instant soup mixes, candy (m&m’s and many others), etc.
Aluminum in deodorant may be linked to breast cancer. Make homemade deodorant!
I’ll be blogging about other heavy metal toxins in the future, but until then I at least want to mention other toxic heavy metal health destroyers… lead, mercury, fluoride, chlorine, etc. Your body may not be able to get rid of heavy metals, at least not very easily, so it’s best to avoid them throughout your entire life.
Mercury can be found in fish and some vaccines. Fluoride is found in toothpaste and tap water and is very toxic- please research on your own. Get fluoride-free toothpaste or make your own for pennies. Chlorine is in tap water among other places. There are chlorine bath and shower filters available.
